You are right, but imagine this situation :

You are a pregnant woman living a wonderful, a few days before you give birth, everyone you know dies and you lose everything : worse case scenario (some people can think of something worse).

(Or if you hope to get your kid back when you're on your feet again, there are plenty of options available. For example, theres no way in hell EVERYONE WE KNOW can die at once, and if they do, there's foster care.)
